For the last three weeks Eternal’s very own Dalton Kenney has been organizing a skate session on Thursday’s in Downtown Reno. It has long been a summer tradition for our local skateboard community to meet up and have a friendly game of skate at the “Flat Spot” during these long summer nights.
This summer we have dubbed the night “Thirsty Thursday’s” because anyone who is of age can get a drink coupon to either Pie Face Pizza Co. or Ryan’s Saloon. Eternal along with Pie Face, Ryan’s and Reno eNVy are pitching in to get the winners and some luck bystanders some swag.
We are glad to have Dalton pick up the torch and get this summer tradition going again. The game of skate is informal and all you got to do to be a part of it is to show up. So put on your skate shoes and come down. And hey if you don’t skate no worries come and watch. Everyone is out to have a good time! Tonight July 12th everyone is going to Burgess Skate Park, in Sparks. See you there.
You have until Saturday to get a raffle ticket for a brand new iPhone 4. All you need to do is to buy anything at either Eternal location, in Reno or Sparks, and you will get a raffle ticket. On Saturday we will have a booth down at the Reno Block Party where you will also be able to buy tickets, and we will be announcing the winner of the phone.
The Reno Block Party is this Saturday June 30th, and it is going to be fun. There will be 2 stages pumping out music all day long in one of the biggest concerts of the year. The Wingfield Park pavilion stage will host the live music from local bands from right here in Reno. This stage will feature 17 diverse bands and musicians throughout the day from 10 am – 9 pm. You cannot miss this event with over 28 musical artists/groups in one show. There will also be plenty of art, vendors (including Eternal), festival games and features that come with Reno Block Party. Check out their Facebook page and come down to the river to see us!
So if you want that iphone, come down and check out our selection of Matix board shorts, DVS tank tops, summer dresses, Sabre sunglasses, Sanuk sandals and much more. Or just come in and pick up a sticker and you will be entered to win.
Chas Guldemond has had a great winter with wins all over the world including the title of World Champion in slope style. With such a good winter Chas is certainly looking forward to summer. But the snowboarding is not quite over. This Saturday, June 9th, Chas will be making a guest appearance at the grand opening of Woodward Tahoe up at Boreal here in Tahoe. Here is what Chuck will be up to this summer right from the man himself.
“Man am I stoked for Summer! It was a long winter and a really successful one at that. I traveled all over the world and had a lot of fun and visited some of my favorite places. To name a few, Oslo Norway for the World champs, Sapporo Japan for the Toyota big Air and Mammoth for the Grand Prix!
Now it is time for summer mode. I just bought a new mountain bike so I will be ripping that around town and in the mountains to get my legs going. As always I will be training hard in the Gym and working with a trainer to take my fitness to the next level. My summer hobbies are endless it seams from dirt biking and skating to wake boarding and chilling with my dogs. To cap it all of I will be testing some of my new Board designs at mount hood in July.
Its going to be a busy summer filled with stuff to do but I am stoked to take a little break for the shred and do some of the things that make me happy.”
We just received our first boards for 2013. Summer has not even had it’s first official day and we are getting snowboards. Crazy. 2013 Ride snowboards are the first ones to the door with a pre-June drop date. This is the earliest we have ever received product for the pending season. I know everyone is thinking about the beach, but why not drool a bit over next years gear and it looks good!
The Ride DH2 is the jam. It is perfectly suited for super parks. This year it offers micro-rocker in the tip and tail to keep it from getting to hooky. New for this year are Popwalls, which take Ride’s Slimewall up a notch and adds some carbon. You still retain the forgiveness of having the urethane sidewalls with a bit extra pop coming from the carbon.
This year the shape is fine tuned. Ride is using what they call the Hybrid Twin camber profile. Basically there is mico-rocker in the tip and tail and a very slight traditional camber between the feet. The camber variations from tip to tail are almost invisible, which should give it a better ride than a flat board. This board is defiantly a must ride for next season, especially if you like going big.
Check out the rad new designs and graphics on the 2013 Ride Buckwild, DH2, Machete, Berzerker and Women’s Ride Compact all here at Eternal.
Well summer is certainly in the air so it is time to get to the beach, river or the pool. It looks like the retro boardshort look is in this year. The Analog Uno boardshort is a great example they even have that old school cloth texture that really make them feel like throw backs. The leg cut is above the knee (20″) with a scallop cut seam, so they are a bit higher then more modern board shorts. Other than that they are basic, a tie string and anti rash Lycra at front fly and rise.
I liked these shorts because of the throw back cut. Newer board shorts often are just too long for me. The slightly heavier feel of the fabric makes them nice for wearing the entire day. Thats my two cents. So grab some retro Analog boardshorts for this summer and be the talk of the town.
