Catching Up with Brendan Gerard
So the weather has been pretty bunk in Tahoe obviously. I finished up working on our entry for the Boreal Team Video Challenge, which our team of Jake Devine, Andrew Brewer, Danyale Patterson, and I have won.
I headed down to LA to shoot a new ad campaign for Sabre Eyewear. That went great, we shot it on the beach in Venice, no complaints. Following the shoot I headed over to COMUNE clothing companies’ Drop City artist premiere always a good time.

After a little SoCal sun I headed back north and then a little east over to Colorado to visit the fam in Summit County. We definitely did some family shredding and I struggled to keep up with my 11-year old freakishly good brother Red.
My close friend Ryan Scardigli called me up Christmas day and said he was coming into town to do a story for Method Magazine and Snowboarding Australia on urban snowboarding around Denver. So we spent the next week really cracking trying to get some content together and had a lot of success thanks to the help of locals Brendan Barry, John Hill, Jackson Fowler, and Billy Mackey. Our productive crew got a little too productive and found ourselves in Clear Creek County Jail for a couple nights. It was a surprisingly hospitable experience.
Anyhow, lots of mischief and mayhem in between and plenty of more to come!

Northstar: New Home of the Superpipe
On Saturday, Dec. 31, Northstar at Tahoe has slated to open the Shaun White Superpipe. 22 foot walls are beckoning. The pipe even has a new home higher up the mountain, to take advantage of a better pitch and colder conditions, on Logger’s Loop. It looks like a lot of fun and if it is good enough for Shaun White then it is almost good enough for me. See you out there.
Premiere #3 in da Books!
Our third snowboard movie premiere of the year at the Freight House District was wild. Technine and the boys from FODT know how to party. Stars of Familia 2 Andrew Brewer, Jake Devine, Mark Frank Montoya, Dylan Thompson and Cole Talylor all showed up to mingle and party with the fans.
Boreal brought down a box and a rail for all the kids who wanted to show off. We had an Am Jam contest with celebrity judge Andrew Brewer. All of about 30 entries were just happy to drop in and get a quick fix of snowboarding before the season starts. The field was mostly guys but there were two girls representing, and there was even one skier. We definitely had some good riding and some good spills going down. In the end Bryce Salazar won a brand new Banshee Bungee, so he can continue to perfect urban rails.
Afterwards, the movies began with Givin “One.” Givin is a new production company Formed by snowboarder Keegan Valaika and Cinematographer Aaron Hooper, their goal is to create snowboard movies for snowboarders, by showing a combination of snowboarding and the snowboarding lifestyle. “One” had a really fun feel in addition to some great riding.
Of course we had to do some product tossin’ and a raffle to hook up all the kids. We even auctioned of Eternal cover boy Andrew Brewer for a date to the highest bidder, which was $70. Lucky gal!
When it was time for “Familia 2” by Finger On Da Trigger, everyone was amped. This flick was packed with some of the most progressive urban snowboarding ever. Plus this movie features two of Eternal’s heavy hitters, Andrew Brewer and Jake Devine, both of which were on hand to sign autographs.
We went straight from movie premiere to after party with Kreayshawn headlining the night.
It was a whirlwind event for sure. I think we are all ready for some real snow to hit. All these premieres have got me amped. Good thing we only have one more to go, the Forum movie “Vacation.” Check out more pictures from the night on our Facebook.
Special thanks go out to Andrew Brewer, Jake Devine, Mark Frank Montoya, Dylan Thompson, Cole Talylor, Sean Sullivan, Johnny Lazz, Zander Blackmon, Joshua Parker, DJ, John Scott, Ryan Reidel and the entire Freight House Crew, Lane Knack, Technine, Nomis, Paul Perez from Skullcandy, Kristian Walters. Most of all we want to thank all everyone who strapped in for the rail jam. For next year we will be thinking bigger and better.
THANKS EVERYONE FOR COMING OUT!!
Rail Jam, Familia 2 and Kreayshawn!
We are going to kick off the night with an armature rail jam open to anyone who wants to throw down. Boreal will be helping us out and they are bringing down one of their expert built rails. It’s a great excuse to dust off your snowboard gear and Febreze out your stinky boots.
Since it is Saturday and we don’t want to go home, Kreayshawn will be playing us some party music all the way until Sunday.
Get your tickets in advance for $10 at either Eternal location (Sparks or Reno). Tickets at the door are $15.
Be there!
